Hello, everyone! My name is Macy Zamudio and I am the 6th grade homeroom teacher and the English Language Arts teacher of junior high. I graduated from Saint Xavier University with a Bachelor’s Degree in History & Secondary Education with a middle school endorsement. This will be my first year as a teacher at St. Gall, but it’s certainly not my first time being here; I’m proud to say that I am a St. Gall graduate (attended from kindergarten to 8th grade!) and I am ecstatic to be back at my alma mater to teach this generation of St. Gall students.
I am a proud Chicagoan and a lifelong resident of the Gage Park neighborhood. Outside of my life in the classroom, I enjoy spending my time downtown catching Broadway shows, sight-seeing, and learning the history of this city. I am a dedicated scholar of Latin American studies and love reading books on Latino history. My favorite pastime is reading comic books and becoming inspired by the superheroes in these fantastic tales.
I’m truly humbled to be back at St. Gall and I hope to imbue in students the same strong sense of social justice that was instilled in me while I was here. Schools are where the heroes of tomorrow are formed, and I hope that all my students end up leaving my class as the heroes of this world.
